Possibly Selling all my Squidoo Lenses

So I have recently been offered quite a bit of money for all of my squidoo lenses. For me, it seems like a good deal at this time for many reasons, and I might just do it.

There has been no final agreement yet though, so it definitely is not a done deal. If I did do it, I would probably not disappear completely.

Squidoo is too fun, and the payout over the holidays way too good to completely go.

If I were to sell all my lenses, I would probably work like a mad dash between now and christmas to get at least 50 to 100 lenses up between now and then so I could enjoy the christmas payouts.

Besides, my first christmas ever I had no lenses hardly, I started in October, and tried to make at least one lens a day, and I made several thousand dollars over christmas.

The thing I like the most about squidoo (or at least the way I do it) is it’s all legit – you hear about people supposedly making several thousand dollars in a month promoting things like make income online and get your ex back books, but many of those are hard for me to embrace.

I can embrace physical products wholeheartedly and easily so there’s no ethics battle.

Anyway, how about you? Would you ever sell all your lenses? How much money would it take for you to do so? If you did, would you go elsewhere, or just keep plugging away at squidoo?

  1. OMG, just the thought of selling all of my lenses gives me heart palpitations….lol. And yet……for the right price I guess I would. Having learned a heck of a lot over the almost 2 years I have been on Squidoo, like you, I know I can get another lens portfolio up in short order and move on. Some lenses I am more attached to than others. I was actually offered $300 for my top lens a while back, but that was a low ball offer in my mind, considering it is a solid Tier 1 (approx. $600 p.a.) plus makes regular Amazon sales.

  2. Wow! Good for you! That’s so exciting that you might be letting go of all your lenses…but as you say, you can always make more, so why not.

    Keep us posted :)

  3. Hi-
I love Squidoo too much to ever let go of it. I feel like I’m learning something every day to the point where it’s sometimes overwhelming.
I would love to make $1000 over Christmas, (congrats on your successes), but I have a lot more lenses to make before I could get to that point!
I don’t think I would ever sell any lenses already made. I would consider writing lenses for other people and I would also consider buying lenses (if I could afford them :)

  4. Given how many lenses I have that do absolutely nothing, if somebody offered me big money I’d probably take it. Well … maybe not. I’m thinking that I’ve got some that I am far too personally invested in to part with, not that they make much money. Oh, heck, I don’t really know. :)

Squidoo is more than just a vehicle for sales or a platform for writing, at least to me. It’s also a community of like minded people who inspire me daily. So no, even if I sold off the bulk of my lenses, I’d stick around and probably keep on creating new ones.

That said, however, I am still working on other projects that don’t involve Squidoo. I know that there are people who make a full time living online using primarily Squidoo, but I am not one of those people.

Like you, I feel a lot better promoting real products than most digital downloads. However, I am venturing out into projects that involve the selling of real products that I own instead of selling other people’s products as an affiliate. Amazon makes it easy, I’m finding. eBay, not so easy, but still do-able.

Great post – I very much enjoy reading your blog and yours is one of the few marketing emails that I look forward to.

  5. Thanks Janelle :) I’m with you. Squidoo is one of the best places to work online, imo.

  6. I guess I would consider it IF the price was right. But I enjoy squidoo way to much. After I sold them I would make tons more. LOL
