So, I have sold a couple more lenses. I sold 2 more tier one lenses about skylanders toys. I’m happy to have the immediate money, but know I probably would have made more if I would have held onto them through Christmas.
That’s Ok. Nothing lasts forever.
+++ Creating New Lenses++
I have been creating many new lenses lately!
I made this one a few hours ago and it already has google traffic
http://www.squidoo.com/novi-stars-dolls-and-toys
(Novi Star Dolls and Toys)
The dolls don’t come out till August, but anyone who knows me knows that I like to be the first one to make a lens or webpage about something!
In fact, the last time I emailed, I shared a few of my newer lenses and several people emailed me back and asked what I do to promote my lenses, since the lensrank was already pretty good.
I will state right now, for the record, that I don’t backlink my lenses, for the most part. I have created an odd backlink here and there in the past, mostly as experiments, but I don’t have a strategy.
I create a lens, I put it in some facebook groups to get some eyeballs looking at it, and I move on to the next one.
In fact, there is an interesting discussion going on right now on facebook where people are saying squidoo traffic is down overall and wondering if backlinking is to blame.
+++ Shiny New Object Syndrome
I have noticed that people on squidoo generally fall into one of three camps:
1) Those who do nothing but Squidoo, and maybe hubpages (I think this is the minority)
2) Those who do Squidoo and their own websites and other money making ventures and are doing well and sticking with what is working
3) Those who are doing Squidoo and constantly looking for the next big thing – buying up whatever Ebooks or courses they think will make them more money. (shiny new object sufferers)
Well, if you are in camp 3, Tiffany Dow has created something that may help you.
I have not bought it – I am in camp 2 – but I trust Tiffany and her products are quality. What I think she is doing with this guide is showing you exactly how to take that addiction to buying new products and make it profitable for you – like she does. See it here
++++ I am currently owed $2640 in commissions
**** Update! I have been paid, they are now 100% up to date on commissions through last month even. AND, they sent me $50 in target gift cards as a make-nice gift. Thank you!
The Entertainment book has not paid me since February. They owe me $1115 in commissions, not counting the last two months. I’m pretty sure no one has been paid. The company may be in trouble – I’m not sure.
Two months ago, I emailed several people and got a promise from a commission junction rep that I would be paid last month. I was not.
So what did I do? Well, I started emailing and calling everyone I could think of. I even tweeted the CEO and had all my friends retweet it. I truly think that is the thing that got the ball rolling.
The affiliate manager contacted me the next day and said I would be payed on July 10th, when Cj starts sending out their next checks.
She also said I would get a monetary bonus for my patience.
She also asked for my address so her boss could send me something.
I have not received the something yet. It’s been 1 week and 2 days. If I don’t receive it by next tuesday I will email her again and ask her about it.
I am praying my money will come on the 10th. I have been missing my $600ish a month from them a lot.
It is worrisome that such a company is not able to pay their affiliates, but that book has had some serious competition from places like Groupon.
